artist's statement I enjoy the physical act of drawing and painting. For me drawing and painting are an important way of engaging with the world around me and also as a way of making sense of it at all Recently I have been making public art. This ranges from murals about Lithgow's history to painting backdrops for a Debutante Ball. Two of the paintings shown on this page are of a mural depicting how the 1949 National Strike affected Lithgow. I find this an interesting form of art involving much consultation and negotiation with individuals and groups. The research involved in these projects is both interesting and stimulating. curriculum vitae Some of my earliest memories are of drawing with chalks on the pavement of our backyard. Ever since then I have loved drawing, painting and making things. I studied art until the age of 14 at school and then spent two years in Rome studying drawing and painting. I have attended TAFE classes in art and some subjects of a fine arts degree through Curtin University. I have also attended workshops in printmaking and different styles of painting. I have exhibitions of my work at Sydney University, a restaurant in Goulburn and a TAFE library at Lithgow. I have entered works in exhibitions in Sutherland, Santa Margherita (Italy), Lithgow and Blackheath. I have taught children and adults art mainly on a voluntary basis. CONTACT |
