ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Brian Hanlon lives in Winmalee in the Blue Mountains. Brian works primarily in oils, and his paintings reflect the hues of the Australian bush and mountains. Brian’s style is driven by a fascination with light and it’s effect on the landscape. He has been influenced by the Australian Impressionists of the Heidelberg School, as well as modern day artists.

He has also exhibited photographic images of the Blue Mountains landscape.

Brian’s paintings hang in private collections around Australia and the USA.

CURRICULUM VITAE

Brian is a fulltime firefighter at Katoomba and has been painting since 1982.

He studied under a local artist in Penrith for 6 years before moving to the Blue Mountains in 1996. He has completed commissions ranging from boats and trains to Blue Mountain landscapes.

Brian held his first exhibition in 1997 with fellow artist/firefighter Bruce Cameron. He has since held a number of exhibitions at the Braemar Gallery Springwood with other members of the Emergency Services.

He has recently been featured in the book "The Streetwise" by Peter Adams and Alan Lloyd.
