ARTIST'S STATEMENT

Michael brings an extensive international experience to his art. He has lived and worked in Australia, Sri Lanka, Britain, Netherlands, Germany, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and the West Indies.

His main focus in painting is on the interactions between line, texture and colour in abstract, landscape, and figurative work. He is interested in abstraction as a means of considering landscape and form in both painting and line drawing. His painting plays deliberately with texture and the layering of colour to emphasise both the subject and its visual aesthetic. The emphasis on texture reflects dialogue between three-dimensional form and changing patterns of colour.

He has been awarded prizes in open competitions.

His works are held in private collections in Australia and overseas.
