STUDIO GROUPS

Artists through the ages have joined together to learn from each other through the friendly exchange of expertise, information, informed critiques and simply seeing how others "do it":  the Blackheath Art Society is continuing this very useful creative tradition and practice. The use of the studio for painting, drawing and printing is for members only. The studio has easels and work tables but artists will need to bring their own special equipment and materials. There is no tuition in the groups. The studio has coffee/tea making facilities and supplies. Studio fees are payable on arrival.

To join a group, simply contact the Convenor(s).

This group was formed to explore ways in which colour can be used to push one's own artistic boundaries. Experimenting with colour, form and structure - or anything else - invigorates and informs one's usual approach in many exciting ways. It's a way of putting your own stamp on your work.

It's difficult sometimes, even frustrating, but in the long term very rewarding and never dull. If you feel you'd like to explore your 'other side', do come along. The only requirement is that you want to experiment, 'let go' - and have fun doing it.

* Opening/closing times may vary, so new members need to phone a convenor to ensure access.

The studio has a dedicated print room with a small press suitable for both intaglio and relief printing and is equipped with glass plates for mixing and rolling ink and troughs for soaking paper prior to printing.  Printmakers tend to prepare their plates at home and to use the studio primarily for printing editions but you may choose to do otherwise.  As with all groups, there is the opportunity to exchange information re techniques when working together at the studio.

* Opening/closing times may vary, so new members need to phone a convenor to ensure access.
